Psalm 23 – From Relationship to Eternity and Everything In Between

The 23rd Psalm assures us of God’s constant care for us and is backed up by many verses throughout the Bible:

The Lord is my shepherd; — That’s Relationship! (Proverbs 3:5-6, Psalm 25:4-5, 9)

I shall not want. — That’s Supply! (Psalm 31:19)

He makes me to lie down in green pastures; — That’s Rest! (Matthew 11:28-30)

He leads me beside still waters. — That’s Refreshment! (Psalm 19:7, Acts 3:19-20)

He restores my soul; — That’s Healing! (Psalm 31:7, Revelation 22:1-2)

He leads me in the paths of righteousness — That’s Guidance! (Proverbs 3:5-6, 16:9, Psalm 37:23-24, Psalm 119:105)

For His name’s sake. — That’s Purpose! (Isaiah 42:8, 43:7, Matthew 5:16, John 12:28, Revelation 5:13, 7:11-12)

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, — That’s Testing! (Psalm 31:14-15, John 16:33)

I will fear no evil; — That’s Protection! (Psalm 31:1-5, 20, 23)

For You are with me; — That’s Faithfulness! (Psalm 31:5)

Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. — That’s Discipline! (Hebrews 12:6)

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; — That’s Hope! (Isaiah 40:10, 28-31, Psalm 27:1, Psalm 138:3, Philippians 4:19, Hebrews 4:16, Matthew 22:1-4)

You anoint my head with oil; — That’s Consecration! (2 Corinthians 6:17, 20, Romans 12:1-2, Joshua 3:5, 1 Peter 1:15-16)

My cup overflows. — That’s Abundance! (Psalm 146:5-9, Isaiah 44:3, Malachi 3:10, Philippians 4:19, Matthew 6:33, 2 Corinthians 9:10-11)

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; — That’s Blessing! (Psalm 31:19)

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord — That’s Security! (Psalm 31:20, Psalm 27:4-5)

Forever and ever. — That’s Eternity! (John 3:16, 5:24, 6:40, Romans 6:23)
