3. We are to pray for comfort for the distressed and afflicted:

“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. Even when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your comfort and salvation! For when we ourselves are comforted, we will certainly comfort you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer. We are confident that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in the comfort God gives us.” (2 Corinthians 1:3-7)

4. We are to pray for our leaders to make Godly decisions:

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour” (1 Timothy 2:1-3)

5. We are to pray for the sick (James 5:13-16)

“Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises.  Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord.  Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”

6. We are to pray that the Gospel is preached to all people and nations:

“And the Good News (Gospel) about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14)

7. We are to pray for the salvation of family, friends and those we meet:

“For the Son of Man (Jesus) came to seek and save those who are lost.” (Luke 19:10)

“This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:4)

“he Lord isn’t really being slow about His promise, as some people think. No, He is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. …. And remember, our Lord’s patience gives people time to be saved.” (1 Peter 3:9, 15a)
